Baptism Bonnet Selection Ideas

Baptism bonnets complete the ensemble for the baptism ceremony. The first decision to make when choosing a bonnet is whether it should be white or off-white in color. Whichever you select, it is important that it match your child's baptism gown perfectly. Remember there will be pictures to commemorate the event, and you will want your family to look amazing.

There are other things to consider when choosing a bonnet.

  • Do you want the bonnet to have a wide brim or fit more like a cap? When fitting it to your child's head, consider whether you want it to attach with ribbon to be tied under the chin or an elastic strap to hold it in place.
  • Would you like the bonnet to have an intricate design? You can get lace or eyelet trimmed bonnets, or you can include pearls or sequins through the entire bonnet. A floral pattern can fit with the dress. If your dress has a pattern, you may want to consider bringing it to a seamstress to create a personalized matching bonnet.
  • What material do you prefer for the bonnet? You can choose cotton or a blend, or even silk or lace. If you plan to take any pictures outside, you want a bonnet that will keep your child warm and comfortable.
  • Whatever design you choose, be sure to allow plenty of time for the bonnet to be delivered. If you're unsure of the size, you may need to alter it in some ways, which requires more time.
